I have been dabbling in pottery over the past 6 months and I have decided to make some of my favorite pieces available for sale here. For now, I am listing porcelain pieces in my jewelry shop, but I am also listing stoneware items in a different shop called GyreAlchemy, dedicated only to pottery. If you are interested, you can take a look and follow here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GyreAlchemy?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
I threw this small white porcelain bowl on the potter's wheel. I let it dry to leather hard, trimmed it, painted dark blue underglaze on the outside, red underglaze on the inside, and then hand-carved the pattern onto the blue exterior.. Once the piece was bisque-fired, I applied a gloss high-fire glaze to the inside and a very pale transparent aqua celadon glaze to the outside.
This little container is perfect for salt or spices. It can also be used to hold jewelry or small precious keepsakes and can even be used as an incense burner (please note incense may stain the inside with resinous smoke residue, which can be washed away with a little scrubbing). All glazes used on this piece are all food-safe.
The dimensions are approximately 1" tall x 3" wide (2.5cm x 7.6cm) and the weight is 4 oz (.11kg).
Each piece I create is one of a kind and takes many hours of joyful labor to complete.
