I have gotten really into pottery over the past 6 months and I have decided to make some of my favorite pieces available for sale here. For now, I am listing porcelain work in my jewelry shop, but I am also listing stoneware items in a different shop called GyreAlchemy, dedicated only to pottery. If you are interested, you can take a look and follow here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GyreAlchemy?ref=seller-platform-mcnav
I threw this small blue porcelain bowl on the potter's wheel. While the blue porcelain was still wet and spinning slowly, I scraped into the outside with a finely grooved tool. I painted on white porcelain slip and then scraped it smooth revealing a lined pattern. I let the porcelain dry to leather hard, trimmed it and then hand-carved the pattern into the exterior. Once the piece was bisque-fired, I applied a high-fire chartreuse glaze to the inside and a glossy high fire glaze to the outside.
This little bowl is perfect for salt or spices. It can also be used to hold jewelry or small precious keepsakes, and can even be used as an incense burner (please note incense may stain the inside with resinous smoke residue, which can be washed away with a little scrubbing). All glazes used on this piece are food-safe.
The dimensions are approximately 1.4" tall x 3" wide (3.6cm x 7.6cm) and the weight is 3.8 oz (.106 kg). PLEASE NOTE: The listing pictures showing size are shot using cm rulers.
Each piece I create is one of a kind and takes many hours of joyful labor to complete.
PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT ACCEPT REQUESTS FOR CUSTOM PORCELAIN/CLAY WORK AT THIS TIME.
